The analysis of agricultural land patterns of the Altai Region

In the structure of the land fund of the Altai Region the category of agricultural lands is the most extensive, it is more than 11.5 million hectares. More than 6.1 million hectares belong to individual citizens. There are more than 5 million hectares of state and municipal ownership. The rest of the lands are owned by legal entities. There were analyzed the natural and climatic conditions of the land fund of the Altai Region and its patterns in the natural subzones.

With the development of urbanization and expansion of urban land use, the need to up to date maps, has drawn the attention of the urban planners. With the advancement of the remote sensing technology and accessibility to images with high resolution powers, the classification of these land uses could be executed in different ways. In the current research, different algorithms for classifying the pixel-based were tested on the land use of the city of Urmia, using the multi spectral images of the IKONOS satellite.

Land degradation is one of the most pressing problems ensuring sustainable use of land. In order to provide a clear understanding of land degradation and its risks, as well as to implement unified measures for prevention of land degradation in Latvia, the Land Management Law came into force in 2015. It individually defines the concepts of land and soil degradation, thus separating them from each other, as well as clarifying the term “degraded territory”.

Data from the 1990-1994 period presented in the "Brazil's Initial National Communication" document indicated that the country is one of the top world greenhouse gas (GHG) emitters. A large majority of Brazil's GHG emissions come from deforestation mainly of the Amazon biome for agriculture and livestock land uses. This unique inventory is now out of date.

A ocupação desordenada do solo, assim como a ausência de práticas conservacionistas, têm levado à degradação dos recursos naturais. Nesse contexto, tem se atribuído às florestas ripárias presentes nas áreas de preservação permanente o efeito de uma panaceia na proteção dos recursos hídricos. Neste artigo, por meio de uma revisão, tenta-se esclarecer os efeitos hidrológicos da recuperação das florestas situadas nessas áreas, no que concerne à quantidade de água e à manutenção dos recursos hídricos no contexto de microbacias hidrográficas.
