The cassava system in Nigeria is developing, with increasing attention to its potential positive outcomes. However, credit access is a major problem in expanding productive activities of the different actors across the value chains of cassava products. This study investigates the extent of access to credit by cassava actors with respect to the different financial institutions in the country using data obtained from a sample of 168 actors, including producers, processors, marketers, fabricators and end users.

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp) is a vital legume crop for Zambia’s urban and rural households. The crop is an important legume used as human and animal food and as a component of the agricultural production system, which improves the fertility of many depleted soils because of its ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen. Government through the ministries of health and agriculture recommend its’ use. Despite the importance of cowpea in the nation, there is limited information on the crop along with its’ value chain components.

Enhancing financial inclusion is vital for a country like Burundi which aims to achieve inclusive growth in its attempt to break free of its fragility. However, the adoption of instruments of financial inclusion such as bank account, microfinance account and mobile money account is low due to weak institutional capacity leading to high-risk exposure and a greater risk of economic instability.

WLE/Alliance-supported data sharing and big data applications being rolled out in Ethiopia to encourage the government's efforts to transform agriculture

A collaborative effort by WLE/Alliance, GIZ-Ethiopia and partners to institutionalize data sharing has led the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture to adopt the concept. Partners undertook many activities: creation of a digital web portal, data collation, standardization guidelines and big data analysis. They are now developing a site-specific fertilizer recommendation tool. This has led to better-targeted recommendations and a paradigm shift in the research and development discourse as well as further funding and scaling of the framework to other countries.

International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) organized a state consultation workshop on 14 December 2023 on ‘Policy Coherence in Food, Land, and Water (FLW) Systems: A case study of Odisha’ at Bhubaneswar as a part of the CGIAR Initiative on National Policies and Strategies Initiatives (NPS). The Food, Land and Water (FLW) project aims to identify key state-level policies in the food, land, and water systems that have a practical scope for improving coherence and hold most potential for creating an impact.

In 2018, CCAFS and partners provided technical and policy recommendations on Land Productivity and Agricultural Performance for the Colombian Green Growth Policy. The government allocated US $74.5 million to implement actions that help to improve the agricultural sector's performance aiming for increasing by 3%, the agricultural production under green-growth criteria. The current National Development Plan focuses on sustainable agricultural activities that include climate-smart innovation options in line with green growth standards.

This paper examines the governance and implementation of land compensation for the Laos-China Railway (LCR). It brings to light the central government’s strategy to use compensation rules and procedures as its means to extend its spatial power across the provinces, districts, and villages that are affected by the railway construction. We examine both the manifestations and effects of state power through the formulation and implementation of land compensation procedures.
