The text of the Act consist of 65 sections divided into 5 Parts: Preliminary and general (I); Promotion of interests of forestry and development of afforestation, and production and supply of timber (II); Extinguishing of easements, creation of rights of way and compulsory acquisition, of land (III); Restrictions on cutting down and injuring trees (IV); Miscellaneous (V).Section 9 of Part II defines general powers of the Minister in relation with promotion of forestry, etc, including purchase or take on lease or otherwise acquire any land suitable for forestry or required for purposes in connection with afforestation or with the management of any woods or forests or any right. Section 10 provides for the establishment by the Minister of a consultative committee for giving to the Minister in accordance with the provisions of the order advice and assistance with respect to the exercise by the Minister of his powers under this. Section 11 deal with the inspection of land. Under provisions of Part III, the Minister may exercise functions relative to acquisition or holding of land. Other sections of that Part provide for maters related to acquisition of land such as dispute resolution, extinguishing of easements, etc. Sections 22 and following provide for compulsory acquisition of land. Part IV contains rules relative to the cutting or uprooting of trees, provides for the granting of felling licences and replanting of trees.
