The project "Responsible Land Policy" (ProPFR) in Cameroon is being implemented since January 2023 and contributes to strengthening land use rights in the Centre Region of Cameroon (primarily in the municipalities of Nanga-Eboko and Yoko), safeguarding the livelihoods of the rural population and simultaneously promoting the protection and restoration of forest-rich landscapes. This article provides an overview of the progress of the project and its impact.

Uncovering the veiled realities of rural women: a widow’s struggle for land in Amhara Region

With the financial support of GIZ, the Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA) in collaboration with Welthungerhilfe (WHH) has been implementing the Land for Life Amhara Multi-Actor Partnership (MAP) project. The Land for Life Amhara MAP is a coalition of various stakeholders including government, civil society organizations, universities, research institutions and other actors. It aims to provide policy advocacy for a transparent and fair land use and management system, securing user rights and to ensure responsible agricultural investment.

Land Documentation is Not a Blanket Solution for Tenure Security

Land tenure security is the protection people can have from the state that their land parcels will not be bullied away from them by vested interests through unfair evictions. 

It is the opposite of land tenure insecurity.

There are many forms of land documentation. This includes land titles (a legal document that outlines a person's rights) and deeds (legal document of transfer of land/title from one person to another).

Much of the land in Uganda is subject to customary tenure. Because it is not officially registered, land users fear that they may be forced off their land. Registering land has many benefits: it gives the users more security and means they can invest in the land and pass it on to their children.

DAR hopes budget restored for land titling project

MANILA – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is hoping its proposed budget for 2022 for its land titling project will be restored during the bicameral committee deliberation of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

In an interview with the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday, DAR Secretary Bernie Cruz appealed to the House members to heed the call of the senators pushing for the restoration of the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) Project to its original amount.

Over 400 residents were given title deeds during a ceremony held in Monakato Community hall recently.

Support to Lao People's Democratic Republic in developing or revising sub-legislations under 2019 Land Law

FAO is providing support to the Government of Lao People's Democratic Republic in the crafting of relevant sub-legislations under the 2019 Land Law. This process is led by the Department of Land of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. FAO's support will ensure the mainstreaming of the principles and internationally recognized good practices of the VGGT, as well as building on the support provided and the network of partners at the time of drafting the land law.

En 2020, 17 000 titres de propriétés (Arrêté de Concession Définitive : ACD), contre une moyenne de 5 500 auparavant, ont été délivrés, selon le ministre de la Construction, du Logement et de l'Urbanisme, Bruno Nabagné Koné.
