The Independent Science and Partnership Council (ISPC) is a part of the CGIAR, a global partnership that unites organizations engaged in research for sustainable development with its funders. Our overall goal is to determine the major threats to meeting the food production needs of the future and to define the research agenda that will provide solutions to the major long-term problems facing our world: hunger and poverty; nutrition and health; rural livelihood and inequity; and the environmental sustainability of tomorrow's food system. We summarize this as 'food for people, environment for people and policies for people'.
The ISPC's role is to provide independent scientific advice and expertise to the CGIAR Fund Council; to serve as an intellectual bridge between CGIAR funders and implementers; to catalyze partnerships with other international agricultural research institutions; and to act as an honest broker in relevant international fora.
We operate in four main areas of activity:
· Strategy & Trends
· Independent Program Review
· Mobilizing Science and Partnerships
· Impact Assessment
