The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said on Sunday it turned down a permit for a controversial pipeline project running through North Dakota, in a victory for Native Americans and climate activists who have protested against the project for months.

A broad partnership of indigenous coalitions and land rights and research organizations has launched LandMark, the first online, interactive global platform to map lands collectively held and used by Indigenous Peoples and communities. Uganda: Hoima Evicted Families Get Back Land

Hoima — Fifty three families which were evicted from land to pave way for the construction of an oil waste treatment plant by a US firm in August 2014, have finally reached an understanding with the landlord to restore them on the land.
The 53 are part of the 250 families that were evicted from Rwamutonga village, Bugambe Sub-county in Hoima District and are living in an internally displaced peoples camp.
