Toledo Maya snag 2015 Equator Prize in land rights
BELIZE CITY, Mon. Dec. 7, 2015–The Maya Leaders Alliance (MLA) and Toledo Alcaldes Association (TAA) today received recognition in Paris, France, as the 2015 recipients of the prestigious Equator Prize in land rights, as part of the Climate Change Conference.
The award was received by MLA spokesperson, Cristina Coc, and MLA chair, Alfonso Cal.

The Government is finalising a draft Bill to amend legislation governing land registration and ownership.
Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, said amendments will be made to the Registration of Titles, Cadastral Mapping and Tenure Clarification (Special Provisions) Act, to reflect a more culturally relevant legislation.

Tanzania's Land Act No. 4 of 1999 explicitly states that no foreigner can own land in the country.
According to the former executive director of HakiArdhi, Yefred Myenzi, the Act spells out how land can be used, including leasehold.
African Women lobby leaders on land rights

Women across Africa have been mobilised to call on leaders on the continent to address land rights issues as one way of achieving sustainable development.
