Our report analyses the implementation of the UNCCD land tenure decision across six countries in Africa, including Benin, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger, and Uganda. Our research shows that tenure security is diversely interpreted and poorly reflected in Land Degradation Neutrality target-setting programmes and national policies. Moreover, institutional frameworks and capacities to report on and mainstream UNCCD land tenure decisions in policies require additional support. Finally, a critical data gap exists around documenting and claim legitimate tenure rights.
