The purpose of the present Act is to ratify, give effect and declare valid the Agreement between the Inuit of the Nunavut Settlement. Area and Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada. Section 10 decrees that the Nunavut Wildlife Management Board established by the Agreement is hereby constituted as a corporation and, as such, the Board has, for the purposes of carrying out its functions under the Agreement, the capacity, rights, powers and privileges of a natural person. The text consists of 13 sections.Each community opting to come under the FNLMA is required to adopt a land code in accordance with the Framework Agreement which is to replace the land management provisions of the Indian Act. Validly adopted land codes have the effect of law. The Framework Agreement anticipates the adoption of First Nation laws to address the specific issue of matrimonial real property as part of a comprehensive land code. The text consists of 48 sections and 1 Schedule.
