The present Act lays down provisions relating to the acquisition of surface rights to land and the determination and payment of compensation. In particular, the purposes of the Act are: a) to provide for a comprehensive procedure for acquiring surface rights; b) to provide for the payment of just and equitable compensation for the acquisition of surface rights; c) to provide for the maintenance and reclamation of the surface of land acquired in connection with surface rights acquired under this Act. The present Act consists of 95 sections divided into 9 Parts as follows: Purpose and application of Act (I); Board of Arbitration (II); Mediation Officer (III); Acquisition of surface rights for well sites, roadways, battery sites and power lines (IV); Acquisition of surface rights for flow lines and service lines (V); Abandonment, surrender and restoration (VI); Liability for tortuous Acts (VII); Functions and duties of mediation officer (VIII); Appeal (IX).
