This Law shall regulate the procedure of land reform and land privatisation. The purpose of land reform is to ensure the protection of natural resources, to implement the right of citizens of the Republic of Lithuania to land ownership and land use by restitution the unlawfully expropriated land, by transferring or granting into ownership without payment or selling to those willing to purchase, or leasing or allotting for use state-owned land; to create legal and economic preconditions for the development of land market, to ensure that social justice should be observed while privatising the state-owned land. The document consists of 5 Chapters that contain 22 Articles Chapter 1 (arts. 1-5) lays down the general provisions. Chapter 2 (Arts.6-12) regards acquisition of land into private ownership. Chapter 3 (Arts.13-15) regards state-owned land. Chapter 4 (Arts.16-18) regards implementation of the land reform. Chapter 5 (Arts.19-22) regards land-use planning work.
