Mediante este Decreto se declara área natural protegida, con el carácter de reserva de la biosfera, la región conocida como Sierra de Tamaulipas, que se localiza en los municipios de Aldama, Casas, González, Llera y Soto La Marina, en el Estado de Tamaulipas. Las zonas núcleo y de amortiguamiento de la reserva de la biosfera Sierra de Tamaulipas, se subzonificarán en el programa de manejo, conforme a lo previsto en los artículos 47 bis y 47 bis 1 de la Ley General del Equilibrio Ecológico y la Protección al Ambiente.
