: A growing body of literature analyses the conflict implications of REDD+ (Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries). However, the way these conflicts unfold is little understood. We address this research gap through the following question: What are the pathways that connect REDD+ projects and conflicts between local communities and other actors? We review 242 scientific articles, selecting eight that allow us to trace how the conflict pathways unfolded.

This paper explores household variation in land tenure security and drought shocks across villages to investigate the extent to which land tenure systems matter in households’ capacity to cope with adverse impacts of weather shocks for agricultural dependent households in rural Malawi. Our findings reveal that land tenure security cushions the effects of drought regimes on food security. Further, we establish access to credit facilities for farm investment purposes as the underlying channel that mediates the impact of drought shocks on food insecurity.

El objetivo general de este artículo es analizar la incidencia de la concentración, extranjerización y financiarización de los territorios rurales, mediados por el estado uruguayo y liderados por Sociedades Anónimas (SA), en la consolidación de los procesos de acaparamiento de tierras en Uruguay en el siglo XXI. This article aims to reconstruct the progression of land grabbing in Colombia by identifying the sequence of mechanisms and strategies employed to dispossess and seize land through specific case studies. The analysis centres around 12 estates/farms with a history of violence, dispossession, and the utilisation of legal mechanisms, enabling the identification of certain historical patterns and how changes in the legal framework contribute significantly to these trajectories.

The formalization of community forest tenure rights is expected to promote sustainable community forest management, and is seen as a way to combine objectives related to environmental conservation, livelihood improvement, and local self-determination. However, the formalization of forest tenure rights by itself, does not automatically result in the intended impacts. There is a need to better understand the conditions under which communities are able to use these rights to achieve positive outcomes across multiple dimensions.
