This Act makes provision for a wide variety of matters relating to land tenure and reform in Lesotho including the definition of rights in land, allocation of land in rural areas, grant of title in land, vesting of land in authorities, government acquisitions and acquisition and expropriation of land for public purpose, grant of long-term leases and regularization and adjudication of title in land, including resolution of disputes by specialized land courts established under this Act. All land in Lesotho is vested in the Basotho Nation and is held in trust by the King.

The Code regulates the land relations on the territory of Armenia and intends to provide effective land use and maintenance, environmental protection and improvement, creation of conditions for equal development of all economic forms based on a variety of property, preservation of rights of citizens, enterprises and organizations, and at legal reinforcement of the rule of law in the sphere of land relations (Preamble). The Code sets out the redistribution of the land stocks by allotting land as property, for permanent use and for temporary use (art.5-7).

The text consist of 26 sections divided into 4 Parts: Introductory (I); Control of Hill Land (II); Control of Silt and Erosion (III); General (IV).The Governor of a State may declare any area to be hill land for purposes of this Act. Such an area shall be registered and various activities within hill land are prohibited or restricted. Cultivation of short term crops is prohibited and other cultivation restricted. Hill land may be cleared with permission of the Collector as defined in section 2, for purpose of cultivation and for purposes of fighting weeds.

This Act released the restrictions made on any grant issued by the Crown prior to January 1, 1990. Restrictions may affect clear, cultivate, seat, enclose, dyke, repair or maintain dykes, improve, sow, plant, sow or plant specified crops or drain the land; dig a stone quarry or other mine or cut wood or employ labour in digging any stone quarry or other mine or in the cutting of wood; and keep or put neat cattle on the land.

The Government decrees as follows: 1) To establish that in case of concession of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes for temporary tenancy or on lease (on condition of subsequent restoration of agricultural land to the level of the initial of cadastre valuation) the amount of agricultural losses is calculated in percentage to the normative cost of developing new lands. 2) Reimbursement for agricultural losses is entered in the account of respective Regional budgets and local administration. These funds are used for carrying out work in accordance with Annex 2.

Ministerial Decree No. 1176 regarding amendments and addenda to the Regulation on the modalities of indemnification to landlords, land owners, tenants and lease-holders of agricultural losses.

The Government, for the purpose of improvement of the modalities of indemnification of agricultural losses caused by expropriation or use restrictions of agricultural land as well as by the deterioration of its quality, decrees as follows: 1) To set forth the Normative costs of developing new lands in exchange for expropriated agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes in new wording according to the Annex; 2) To exclude from the Regulation paragraph 2 of the item 30 and item 36.
