For over a decade, the globalisation of environmental, economic and social issues has induced rapid modification in agriculture and land. These changes raise the question of future extensive livestock systems in regards to the worldwide challenge to double livestock production by 2050 in ways which are safe for the environment. In order to better understand and follow modification processes, a comparative study of livestock systems and land dynamics has been carried out on seven case studies on three continents through the use of a common grid.

The importance of land consolidation in Poland for the processes of shaping agrarian structure

The paper presents the problematic of the merge and exchange processes of land under the following programmes of agricultural land consolidation. By consolidating of land, there was activity for better creation of rural space in order to achieve comprehensive improvement of conditions for farming. According to the Act (1982) there were taken activities to shape the structure of the area, the rational design of land distribution, adjust the boundaries of the property to the system of water management facilities, construction of roads and terrain.

Consolidation and post-consolidation development-related investments are an opportunity to improve living and working conditions of rural residents. Land consolidation is practically the only comprehensive tool to improve the shape of the transport network in the areas covered by this process. Moreover, improving the quality of the transport network is in fact one of the main objectives of land consolidation works.

Individuals' opinion on agricultural multifunctionality

This paper aims to contribute further research on the conceptualization of agricultural multifunctionality through quantitative methods. The empirical analysis is based on a large dataset (Agrobarometre of Andalusia) consisting of self-reported measures of individual opinions on multifunctionality. Ordered probit models are proposed to analyze the extent to which individuals' perceptions of multifunctionality can be explained not only by individual and regional characteristics, but more importantly, by the preferences individuals have for a given type of agriculture.

The mountain farmers operate on whole of animals (flocks, herds, working herds) copying models coming surely from the beginning of domestication. The apprenticeship lengthwise of centuries was received as a heritage and they will to enrich through every generational change. Furthermore, in mountain difficulties the commerce do not rise a regulative capacity as on the plains or well communicated regions and therefore the efficiency way is nearly indispensable.

The purpose of this research is to analyse the situation of policy documents and basic laws (constitutions), related to the rational use of rural land and fertile soil as an important natural resource. The analysis has shown affinity of common laws of different countries in relation to the preservation and improvement of agricultural land and to the provision of necessary infrastructure conducive to the development of agriculture. Based on the analysis of legal framework, the main directions and principles of land management and land use planning in agricultural areas were concluded.

Proceedings of international scientific - methodical conference “Baltic Surveying’17” are periodical edition of scientific articles, issued as online (ISSN 2243-6944) edition. The periodicity of proceedings is one volume per year. Conference was held on the 10 - 12 of May, 2017 at the Latvia University of Agriculture, Jelgava, it was organized by the Department of Land Management and Geodesy. In article is considered the existing system of documents of socio-economic planning of administrative and territorial units of the Republic of Belarus. It is expedient to develop a package of documents of a sustainable development of primary administrative and territorial units (village councils) for improvement of this system. Within implementation of the project of the international technical assistance the analysis of potential opportunities of rural territories for sustainable development goals is carried out.
