The biodiversity of poultry breeds Oravka and Bantam Oravka in Slovakia

The breed of the hen Oravka was created by crossbreeding of the regional hens with Rhode Island, Wyandotte and New Hampshire. Oravka and Bantam Oravka were recognised as breeds in 1990. The original breeding goal to create a dual purpose poultry breed with good egg production, growth ability and adaptability on altemative outdoor rearing was fulfilled during the individual stages of breeding programme, which started in the 1950. This year, 40 controlled breeds of Oravka with 56 males and 502 females were registered.

The Social Consequences of Underestimation of Land Management Importance in Slovak Regional Policy

This work analyzes the importance of land management in Slovakia in a typically rural mountain country. It points out the importance of social function implemented in a region, especially during the economic crisis. The multiple analysis of variance (ANOVA) test confirmed the relationships between the share of agricultural and forest land and the number of people in material need who depend on state aid.

Nowadays it is necessary to process geographic data about landscape in a digital way. It is possible to analyse selected data and approach to decision and proposition-making process of landscaping based on analysis of these results. The LANDEP methodics provides us verified procedures of primary landscape structures assesment and landscaping. Digitalization of selected landscape elements increases processing efficiency, mainly for time reasons. Creation of complex landscape plans of cadastral areas at Slovakia should become a basic priority of every commune.

This Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture, which is composed of 20 articles and 16 Annexes, lays down details on: (a) the procedure of soil sampling; (b) the method and scope of agrochemical soil testing and the identification of soil properties of forest land; (c) keeping records on the consumption and use of fertilizers; (d) the method of processing the annual balance of nutrients and soil organic on agricultural land.

This Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which is composed of nine articles and five Annexes, lays down details on: (a) maintenance of the registration and information system and the database related to the management of agricultural land in vulnerable areas; (b) obtaining weather information; (c) the application for special authorization for the use of nitrogen fertilizers; (d) the procedure for reporting on additional storage areas; (e) plans for the use of nitrogen fertilizers; (f) registration of carried out controls.

This Act lays down some amendments and addenda to Fertilizers Act. In particular the amended art.3a defines requirements for secondary source of nutrients and compost, amended art 4 provides details on the register of certified fertilizers and register of mutually recognized fertilizers, and supplemented art. 5a regulates registration of fertilizers marketed in another Member State of the European Union.

Effect of high nitrogen dose on floristical composition of grassland phytocenosis

There was observed one-off effect of high nitrogen dose (1,000 kg per ha N) on the floristical composition of the Lolio-Cynosuretum R. Tx. 1937 association in the locality Chvojnica in the Strážovské vrchy during the four-year period (1997-2000). The high nitrogen dose supported only spread of four nitrophilous grass species (Dactylis glomerata L., Festuca pratensis HUDS., Festuca rubra L. and Deschampsia cespitosa L. P. B.) within the grassland. These species took up 89% of the share towards the end of experiment. Just three herbs species (Acetosella vulgaris FOURR., Cruciata glabra L.

Proposal for New Land Valuation Practices in Landscape Consolidations

Land valuation in the landscape consolidation projects is currently based on the Decree no. 38/2005 Coll on determining the value of land and plantations for the purpose of land consolidations. Land value is determined using the evaluation map which in turn is created from the updated ESQU (BPEJ) in the area of the landscape consolidation project. The intersection of the layer of plots' boundaries with the evaluation map is the basis for determining the value of existing and new plots.
