Inderscience is a global company, a dynamic leading independent journal publisher which has grown to a medium-sized enterprise, large enough to have the capabilities of a major company but small enough to be flexible and responsive to the requirements of its editors, authors and subscribers.

The company disseminates the latest research across the broad fields of science, engineering and technology; management, public and business administration; environment, ecological economics and sustainable development; computing, ICT and internet/web services, and related areas. It grew out of successfully establishing

  • a cluster of automotive titles,
  • a series of titles which emerged from the ground-breaking International Journal of Technology Management which established the discipline of technology management
  • and launching titles in areas of long-term concern (e.g. energy, environment and sustainable development)

Inderscience offers over 35 years' experience in publishing and has succeeded in building up a substantial collection approaching 400 high-quality peer-reviewed international research journals in both online and print formats. We offer a variety of ways you can keep up-to-date with the latest published leading edge research while our online collection represents a fully-searchable digital archive of around 60,000 articles.

institutionalisation of property rights in Albanian and Romanian biodiversity conservation

Journal Articles & Books
December, 2009
Albania
Romania

This article examines the institutionalisation of property rights by way of two case studies on biodiversity conservation in Albania and Romania. The analysis pays particular attention to local level negotiations which occur when local actors make use of concrete resources and engage in discussions about their appropriate use. In both Albania and Romania, national parks are the object of intense negotiations, as local people contest the associated restrictions on their property rights to agricultural land and forest.

heuristic analysis of equity and equality in the institutionalisation of property rights: the Baliraja water distribution experiment, India

Journal Articles & Books
December, 2009
India

Natural resource management perceived as a search for institutions that can ensure simultaneous fulfilment of three goals: productivity (or efficiency), sustainability and equity. In this article, we study the implications of pursuing the goal of equity in the management of surface water resources for irrigation with a heuristic model incorporating a Leontief-type fixed production function. The analysis has been carried out in the backdrop of the Baliraja water distribution experiment in India.

overview of urban-rural land use interactions in Greece

Journal Articles & Books
December, 2008
Greece

Purpose: The present paper focuses on investigating the principal land use changes in Greece from 1971?1991 and attempts to uncover possible interactions between urban, rural and forest uses. Findings: The interactions do not remain stable in their direction (positive or negative) and importance (high of low) for the two time periods that have been investigated. Practical implications: The correlation analysis can provide useful insights concerning the proximate and underlying causes of land use change.

Evolving more sustainable agriculture in the Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

Journal Articles & Books
December, 2008
Malaysia

Smallholders in many tropical highlands cause serious environmental damage. The Cameron Highlands of Malaysia offer an excellent opportunity for studying how farmers interact with environment, changing markets, infrastructure development, indigenous peoples, and tourism, and how these shape innovation. Our surveys in 2002-2004, 2006 and 2007 show that farmers have intensified production and in doing so some have adopted less damaging practices. We assess trends and causation of changes; this offers opportunities for more proactive management.
