DLG-Verlag was founded in 1952 as a subsidiary of DLG e.V. (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft - German Agricultural Society) with its headquarter in Frankfurt/ Germany. The publishing company provides expertise for the agricultural and food sector.
With its subsidiaries Max-Eyth-Verlag and DLG-Agrofood Medien GmbH the DLG-Verlag offers books and magazines, as well as catalogs of the DLG's international DLG exhibitions.

The early development strategies of both China and India were urban- and industry-focused, discounting the importance of rural development. Despite sweeping reforms in both countries, the urban bias and subsequent spatial disparities still exist today. In order to reduce poverty and increase growth, developing countries need to correct these spatial disparities through a set of policies that take advantage of the synergies and linkages between rural and urban areas.
Mobile telecommunications: bridging the urban/rural divide
The spread of mobile telecommunications in Africa is opening up new horizons in business and politics. More than 10 percent of the African population now has a mobile phone. In areas without roads where contact was formerly difficult, the mobile phone is sweeping aside communication problems. New business links are now possible; a new era is dawning in Africa.
Local use agreements: contributing to decentralisation and democritisation?
There is growing degradation in sylvo-pastoral lands that were originally under common property regimes, but over which the state now asserts ownership. User associations are being given the right to take charge of regulating how these areas are sustainably exploited by means of use agreements, and are proving an effective instrument in halting the degradation process.

Sierra Leone - Un État en renouveau
Après dix ans de guerre civile marquée par de graves violations des droits de l'Homme et des atrocités, en particulier sur les femmes et les enfants, la Sierra Leone était considérée comme un « État failli ». Il a fallu une intervention massive de forces armées sous mandat de l'ONU pour mener la démobilisation à bonne fin en 2002 et rétablir la paix. Les organes de l'État ont commencé à réassumer leurs fonctions et l'économie redémarre. Pourtant le pays restenstable, et les structures administratives sont fragiles.

Le caractère « plurilocal » des systèmes de subsistance ruraux est nettement plus prononcé qu'on ne le pense souvent, de nombreuses personnes du milieu rural passant une partie de l'année hors de leur village dans des emplois non agricoles. Contrairement à une théorie déjà ancienne, la migration circulaire (ou saisonnière) dans un même pays ou entre pays voisins est maintenant reconnue comme le type de migration des pauvres. Cela n'est nulle part plus évident qu'en Asie.
