Determina el cambio en el uso de la tierra y la fragmentación de las zonas boscosas en el Corredor Biológico Lago Arenal Tenorio (CBLAT), en el periodo 2000 – 2017. Se utilizó imágenes del programa Landsat, a las cuales se les aplicó corrección radiométrica y atmosférica. Se realizó una clasificación supervisada utilizando el algoritmo de máxima probabilidad. Se establecieron siete clases temáticas: (1) Bosque Maduro, (2) Bosque Secundario, (3) Pasto y Charral, (4) Urbano, 5) Cuerpos de Agua, (6) Nubes y (7) Sombras.

Adoption of land uses compatible with the water ecosystem service in agricultural farms in Central America
The presence of trees in the farms is typically considered a good practice in water shed management. Therefore, it was examined the voluntary adoption of land uses considered more compatible with the water ecosystem service (shade coffee and woodland) in the region of Trifinio (located in Honduras and Guatemala), where there is not given any incentives or payment for this environmental service. It was observed low adoption of these land uses on small farms.
Payment for Environmental Services in the Sarapiquíy Toro Basins: Theoretical and Technical Implications from a Feasibility Analysis
This paper presents some theoretical and technical conclusions on the contribution of Forest Ecosystem Services to the reduction of deforestation rates in highly vulnerable areas of the Costa Rican Central Mountain Range and to the regulation of watersheds, and the resulting increased profitability of investments in hydro-electrical power plants.
Perception and Economic Decision of Local Producers: the Role of Payment for Environmental Services for Two Types of Forest in the Northern HuetarRegion, Costa Rica
The financial behavior of three schemes for payments for environmental services (PES) adjusted to the forest value (FV) was assessed, starting from a first forest harvest, which were classified into two types according to the dominance of Pentaclethra macroloba combined with palms (Forest Pp) or combined with Carapa guianensis (Forest Pc). In these forests, common production functions of sustainable forest management (SFM), and functions of profitability were elaborated for two conditions of harvesting during a cutting cycle.
