The scope of this Regional Law shall be management, conservation, protection and reproduction of forests located on urban land. Urban forests shall be registered within the boundaries of urban areas and shall be destined for recreation of the population and conservation of favourable environment. Forested urban land parcels of particular environmental protection, scientific, cultural and historic value can be classified as protected areas. Urban forests can be used for the following purposes: (a) recreation, tourism and sport; (b) scientific research; and (c) timber extraction in the process of sanitary felling and miscellaneous felling. Hunting, timber extraction, procurement of non-timber products, agro-forestry and illegal felling in urban forests shall be prohibited.
