Nigeria: Amosun Signs Anti-Land Grabbing Bill, Others Into Law

The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has signed into law, a bill prohibiting forceful takeover of land, by persons or group of individuals.
The passage of the bill has formally criminalised the act, which also attracts a 25-year jail term without options of fine, for those who violate this existing law of the state.

Government has introduced a new data system that will curb multiple farm ownership by not allowing anyone who already has multiple farms under A1 or A2 to be allocated another piece of land.
The new database system is being implemented in conjunction with the Registrar-General's Office and is part of Government strategy to weed out individuals who have multiple farms.
