This Act makes provision for the establishment of the Namibian Council for Professional Land Surveyors, Technical Surveyors and Survey Technicians and for the registration of practitioners by the Registrar of the Council and regulates their qualification, professional conduct and practice. “Practitioners” are professional land surveyors, apprentice land surveyors, technical surveyors, apprentice technical surveyors, survey technicians and apprentice survey technicians.The Council shall be a body corporate and shall regulate and promote the training, qualification and practice of practitioners in Namibia.Notwithstanding the repeal of the Land Surveyors Ordinance, 1963, the Institute of Land Surveyors of Namibia shall continue to exist and shall be deemed to be an approved society representing professional land surveyors under section 7 of this Act.
