GRAIN

GRAIN is a small international non-profit organisation that works to support small farmers and social movements in their struggles for community-controlled and biodiversity-based food systems. Our support takes the form of independent research and analysis, networking at local, regional and international levels, and fostering new forms of cooperation and alliance-building. Most of our work is oriented towards, and carried out in, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

VNFU

Viet Nam Farmers’ Union (VNFU) was established in 1930. Its position is recognized in the Constitution of Vietnam 2013 and is recognized as playing a key and central role for farmer movements and new rural construction. It is organized at 4 official levels: national, provincial, district and commune level. Under the commune level, VNFU is organized into branches and under the branches, VNFU is organized into groups. At present, VNFU has over 10.5 million members working in various sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fishery, salt-making, handicraft and small industry, services.

At ILEIA, we are committed to strengthening family farming rooted in agroecology. We do this by building bridges between the social movements, the science and the practice of agroecology through documenting and systematising grounded practices. As communication experts, we translate complex ideas into easily understandable language to bring together the insights derived from diverse ‘ways of knowing’, and to catalyse synergies among different actors working to amplify agroecology.

The international journal Rural 21 has dedicated more than 40 years to all topics surrounding rural development. Its ambition is to further those strategies and policies that strengthen rural areas of developing and newly industrialising countries and encourage their implementation.
