To celebrate International Women’s Day, Mokoro is pleased to share news of the successful completion of fieldwork in the fourth of six phases of our WOLTS pilot study in both Mongolia and Tanzania. WOLTS is a major multi-country strategic action-oriented research project in support of the land rights of women and vulnerable groups. The WOLTS team is well underway with preparing two major reports of our country research findings, to be launched, respectively, in May and June this year.

LUXOR, Egypt (AP) — Hundreds of Egypt's ethnic minority Nubians have blocked a main road in the country's south to protest the government's plan to sell land they claim to be their ancestral territory.

Monday's protest, on the road between the city of Aswan and the Abu Simbel archaeological site, came after police last weekend prevented a group of Nubians from returning to their land.

In my native Colombia, the cloud forests of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta have been described as holding the most important concentration of threatened wildlife on Earth. These forests are also the ancestral home of the Koguis, an indigenous group now numbering around 10,000 individuals.
