Asegurar los pastizales es un  importante debate en curso, debido a la compleja planificación que su uso necesita y la falta de reconocimiento o protección. En un debate en línea del 29 de enero al 14 de febrero de 2018, 38 participantes de 4 continentes debatieron sobre los principales desafíos, soluciones y lecciones aprendidas, así como sobre vías para plataformas multiactores. La minería y la expansión de los cultivos son las mayores amenazas para los pastizales, que se derivan de la afección a de corredores de movilidad, el acaparamiento de tierras y la marginación de los pastores.

El artículo muestra cómo la doctrina civil colombiana ha acogido recurrentemente la idea de que los romanos dividieron el derecho de propiedad en tres propiedades o atributos: usus, fructus, y abusus. Luego, el texto pasa a los textos primarios romanos, poniendo en evidencia la ausencia de esa tridivisión entre los jurisconsultos. El análisis continúa con los textos secundarios de derecho romano, resaltando la manera en que las obras colombianas con frecuencia le atribuyen al derecho romano la tridivisión, mientras los textos extranjeros normalmente no lo hacen.

An Introduction to Prindex

Oil palm investments are returning from Southeast Asia to West Africa, where the crop originated. As this interest intensifies, land conflicts are likely to become more prevalent. Our research shows that such disputes can treble the cost of cultivation and cause year-long delays. Despite this, many companies do not mitigate tenure risk because they lack the data and tools necessary to understand their risk exposure and take action.

Making Rangelands More Secure

The topic of how best to make rangelands secure for local rangeland users is one of ongoing debates. The very nature of rangeland use – the need for landscape level planning incorporating spatially and temporally variable resources, and for recognising the multiple layers of use by multiple actors presents complexity that is not easily accounted for by the often inflexible and simpler land tenure systems that governments prefer to introduce.
