A national land policy in crisis: the case of ghana

Policy Papers & Briefs
July, 2024
Ghana

Developing countries are increasingly focusing more on land policy as part of their development plans. Ghana created its National Land Policy in 1999 but hasn't updated it in over 25 years, despite significant changes in land governance. This situation prompted the development of a thorough Land Policy in 1999.

Journal Articles & Books
January, 2021
Algeria

En déverrouillant simultanément l’accès à la terre et à l’eau souterraine publiques, l’État joue un rôle d’allocation, ou dans certains cas de réallocation, des ressources productives.

Land governance and the politics of fair transitions: Deepening the search for social justice

Conference Papers & Reports
September, 2024
Global

The starting point for the Conference and Summit was the recognition that ongoing transitions in the name of climate change and clean energy are deeply unfair in multiple ways. Climate policies and so-called green investments place huge burdens on people and spaces in the Global South as well as on areas inhabited by marginalized populations in countries of the Global North. Their rights are put under pressure, safeguards are lacking or not enforced, and the room to defend their lands, forests, pastures, and territories is constrained.
