Interim Guidelines and Standards for Environmental Pollution Control in Nigeria.

Interim guidelines and standards relate to six areas of environmental pollution control are issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA). These guidelines and standards relate to six (6) areas of environmental pollution control: Effluent limitations (ii) Water quality for industrial water uses at point of in-take (iii) Industrial emission limitations (iv) Noise exposure limitations (v) Management of solid and hazardous wastes (vi) Pollution abatement in industries.

This Act makes provision for the protection of the environment of a broad sense. The purpose of this Directive is to regulate the use of sewage sludge in agriculture in such a way as to prevent harmful effects on soil, vegetation, animals and man, thereby encouraging the correct use of such sewage sludge. Member States shall prohibit the use of sludge where the concentration of one or more heavy metals in the soil exceeds the limit values which they lay down in accordance with Annex I A and shall take the necessary steps to ensure that those limit values are not exceeded as a result of the use of sludge.

This Circular of the Ministry of Planning and Investment contains detailed guidelines for the implementation of projects funded by the State. In this Act "land development" means any act done to soil or land in order to increase its richness or quality, or to increase agricultural produce, and includes the improvement of soil or land which lacks natural fertility or lacks fertility due to its utilisation, and soil and water conservation to maintain natural balance or for suitable utilisation of land for agriculture. There shall be a committee called the "Land Development Committee" composed of ministers and Government officers.

Joint Regulation of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Federal Committee on Land Resources and Land Survey regarding the modalities of issuing licences for the exposure of degraded and contaminated soil.

In accordance with this Regulation the licensed activity is sub-divided in two groups: a) inspection of agricultural land for the purpose of the exposure of the eroded, saline, swamped soils; desertified soils, sedimentary soils, as a result of mining, reindeer pastures with the soil and vegetation damaged; b) soils contaminated by industrial waste and nuclear substances. The Regulation consists of 4 Sections. Section 1 lays down the general provisions. Section 2 establishes the modalities of issuing licences. Section 3 determines the rights and the duties of the holders of licence.

Protection Measure of Xiamen City of PRC on Agricultural Environment.

These Regulations make a number of amendments to principal Regulations of 1994. These amendments provide that relevant planning authorities must send to the Dublin Transportation Office (DTI) copies of development plans and also of planning applications and details of proposed local authority development, including environmental impact statements, where these may impact on the DTI Strategy. They also provide for the Ministers for the Marine and for Education and for the appropriate health board to receive copies of draft development plans.

Plant Protection Ordinance (Elimination of plant afflictions in the Aravah and the Negev areas), 1994.

This Ordinance gives definitions and sets rules for the elimination of plant afflictions in the Aravah and Negev areas. Section (1) gives definitions. Section (2) sets rules for the eliminations of plant afflictions; The holder of a field should uproot or eliminate weeds and must keep the field clean of waste that should be transferred to a waste disposal area. Fields must be plowed ten days after harvest and kept clean during waiting period; these rules will apply on processed fields and their adjacent areas within 20 meters.
