Help People in Myanmar Protect Vulnerable Forests

General

Farmers with secure land rights are better able to take care of their land and respond to the impacts of climate change. In Myanmar, Landesa is working with communities and the government to promote Community Forest Certificates, which legalize a way of life local people have been practicing for generations: farming among the trees. Besides giving families rights to farm and live in the forests, CFC's also gives community members responsibilities for caring for this important natural area.

Help rural farmers in Africa gain access to land

General

Seventy-five percent of the world's poorest people live in rural areas where land is a critical asset, but more than half these families lack either access to land or a secure stake in the land they farm. Landesa partners with governments to provide policy and implementation support to strengthen the land rights of millions of men and women in rural African communities. Your donation will support our activities across Africa, including targeted projects in Liberia, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

LAND Project

General

The goal of this project is to support Rwanda's long-term sustainability by strengthening the resilience of its citizens, communities, and institutions and their ability to adapt to land-related economic, environmental and social changes.

Land Market Development Activity

General

The Feed the Future Tajikistan Land Market Development Activity (LMDA) promotes market based principles for land tenure and aims to establish a functional agricultural land market that allows for the transferability of land use rights (such as buying, selling, or leasing land use rights), to ensure a simple and transparent land registration process, while promoting gender equality in rights and processes. The project focuses on land policy and legal development, private sector development, simplification of land registration procedures, and expansion of knowledge surrounding land use rights to rural governmental administrations and citizens, especially female landholders. USAID supports the Government of Tajikistan’s agrarian reform effort to increase agricultural productivity through the U.S. government’s Feed the Future initiative working to: strengthen land rights; expand the availability of quality agricultural inputs; crop diversification; and market development. The Feed the Future Tajikistan Land Market Development Activity supports the Feed the Future initiative, and continues USAID’s effort to support land reform and farm restructuring in Tajikistan, which began in 2004.
