As part of the 10th anniversary commemoration of the CFS Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT) , the FAO is organizing a series of round table discussions to critically reflect on lessons learned. The two-day event will address obstacles encountered globally on VGGT’s uptake, political and economic challenges related to the Guidelines, and monitoring and evaluation.
Within this context, the Land Portal Foundation will participate in two sessions.
In Session 1, Land Portal will present a new data story, “The Voluntary Guidelines – a data deficit?” as part of a larger reflection on the ten years of VGGT application.
In Session 4, Land Portal will host a robust conversation on monitoring, evidence and data. The session aims to ask challenging questions on the monitoring of multilateral development mandates and the use of data to do so. Are complex programs to address land agendas accompanied by suitable monitoring mechanisms? Is this information accessible, or are we in need of a radical rethink? This session will focus on the monitoring of the VGGT and what this means for the future success of the guidelines.
