El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar la correspondencia entre los resultados de una evaluación de tierras con la distribución real de los cultivos. Para ello la aptitud biofísica de las tierras se comparó con diferentes tipologías de frecuencia de ocurrencia de los cultivos y rotaciones derivadas de mapas de cultivos multitemporales. La investigación fue llevada a cabo en el distrito de riego de Flumen (33.000 ha), localizado en el valle del Ebro (NE España).

This booklet was prepared after the December 2004 tsunami caused serious damage to agricultural land, soils and vegetation along the coastal areas of Aceh, Indonesia. The booklet is a guideline for the district government of Aceh Barat for spatial lay-outing of tree crops suitable for its coastal areas. Tree crop options considered in this booklet are based mainly on biophysical characteristics of land. The information is based on soil characteristics and climate data related to growth requirements of crops being evaluated.

This bulletin gives an overview of the ninth session of the working party on Soil Classification and Survey of the European Commission on Agriculture that took place in Ghent, Belgium, in september 1973. It presents the papers, discussions and recommendations developed during the meeting. A methodology of land evaluation is being developed in FAO and will be used for the interpretation of the FAO/UNESCO Soil Map of the World with a view to making a global evaluation of the land resources available for agricultural development.
