La consultation d'experts Evaluation des ressources forestires mondiales - harmoniser les efforts nationaux et internationaux, connue sous le nom de Kotka IV, a rassembl, en juillet 2002, des experts internationaux pour examiner les concepts et les stratgies futurs. Les articles de ce numro d'Unasylva ont t adapts pour un plus large public, partir de documents prpars pour la Consultation.

This document reports on the regional consultation for Southern America (including Mexico), held in Brasilia on 20 and 21 of May 2010 with the support of the Government of Brazil and preceded by a civil society meeting composed of organizations integrating the International NGO/CSO Planning Committee for Food Sovereignty (IPC), whose recommendations have been annexed at this document.

The report constitutes Output 2.1 of the work plan of the FAO LSP Sub-programme 3.1 ("Building Stakeholder capacity to improve access to natural resources for the rural poor").

The Hills Leasehold Forestry and Forage Development Project provides scope for addressing the need to integrate women into the mainstream of the project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The project which is in its second year of implementation, realised the need to undertake a critical analysis of the project in its various aspects from a gender perspective. Subsequently an independent consultant was hired accordingly for a duration of three months. This report contains the findings, conclusions and recommendations of the consultant in this regard.

This publication is a revised and updated version of World Soil Resources Reports No. 84 and 103 and presents the international soil classification system. Every soil in the world can be allocated to one of the 32 Reference Soil Groups as defined in this document, and can further be characterized by a set of qualifiers. The resulting soil name provides information on soil genesis, soil ecological function and soil properties relevant for land use and management.

Programación lineal y el programa PASTOR fueron utilizados para modelar una finca ganadera de 70 ha que podría incluir: 1) pasturas naturales con y sin cercas vivas; 2) mezclas de Brachiaria brizantha/Arachis pintoi; 3) pasturas en callejones (B. brizantha/Erythrina berteroana) y 4) pastoreo en plantaciones de Tectona grandis. Si el precio de la leche se incrementa 10 o 25%, el modelo predice que la producción de leche se incrementaría 14 o 41%, respectivamente. El modelo predice máximos ingresos netos cuando se plantan linderos de T. grandis en pasturas naturales o mezclas de B.
