We are pleased to announce the first of an upcoming India Land and Development Conference (ILDC) Regional Workshops to be held on 30th and 31st May 2025 at Ashirvad, 69, St Marks Road, Bengaluru.

These workshops will focus on two deeply important themes:

• Youth Engagement in Land Governance and Commons Management
• Dalit Land Rights: Challenges and Policy Directions

Organized by Landstack, Seva Mandir, Institute for Youth and Development,  International Land Coalition (ILC Asia), Land Forum India, Kudumbam, and Ashirvad, these workshops aim to bring together young leaders, grassroots practitioners, researchers, and civil society actors to engage in meaningful dialogue and action-oriented collaboration.

Workshop Context & Goals

Despite land being central to livelihoods, identity, and justice, Dalit communities in India continue to face systemic exclusion from land ownership and decision-making, while youth voices remain largely absent from land governance dialogues. These workshops aim to address these challenges by:

• Building capacity and leadership among marginalized youth.
• Promoting Dalit land rights through policy discussions, evidence sharing, and strategic networking.
• Creating collaborative spaces for communities, institutions, and decision-makers to co-develop sustainable and equitable land governance models.

Key Objectives

• Empower youth to engage in land policy, advocacy, and governance through knowledge-sharing and mentorship.
• Advance Dalit land rights by identifying structural barriers and exploring pathways for tenure security and equitable access.
• Foster partnerships for sustained collaboration, advocacy, and programmatic action.
• Integrate land justice with broader concerns of climate resilience, food security, and gender inclusion.

Participation & Logistics:

This workshop is open to youth leaders, students, community organizers, civil society practitioners, researchers, legal advocates, and others who are engaged in or passionate about issues of land justice and inclusive governance.

• There is no fee to attend the workshop.
• Participants will be required to cover their own travel costs.
• Accommodation will be offered to select participants on a case-by-case basis, depending on availability and need.
• All workshop sessions will include lunch and refreshments.
• The workshop is designed to be interactive, inclusive, and action-oriented, combining expert sessions with participant-led discussions, case studies, and strategy-building.
