The present report contains a summary of progress made over the past two years in implementing key decisions on land governance of the African Union and United Nations, including those made under the auspices of the African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government through its endorsement of the implementation plan for Agenda 2063. Progress is also reported on efforts aimed at carrying out the recommendations and decisions of the Committee on Regional Cooperation and Integration of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and those of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Water and Environment; the Malabo Declaration on Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation for Shared Prosperity and Improved Livelihoods is also reported. In addition, in the report, key findings of research conducted by the African Union Commission, ECA, and the African Development Bank Land Policy Initiative in the last two years on land, ethnicity and conflict in Africa are highlighted. The report concludes with key recommendations.
