The purpose of the Order is to withdraw from disposal certain tracts of territorial lands for reindeer grazing purposes and to set apart and appropriate those tracts for use as a reindeer grazing reserve in the Northwest Territories. The present Order is made under the Territorial Lands Act. The purpose of this Order is to withdraw from disposal certain tracts of territorial lands in order to facilitate the conclusion of Aboriginal land agreements. Section 2 establishes that the tracts of territorial lands set out in Schedule 1, including the surface rights to the lands, and the tracts of territorial lands set out in Schedule 2, including the surface and subsurface rights to the lands, are withdrawn from disposal for a period of two years beginning on the day on which this Order is made.

The present Act validates the Westbank First Nation Self-Government Agreement between Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada and Westbank First Nation of 3 October 2003. In particular, section 3 establishes that the Agreement is approved and has the force of law. Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement Act (S.C. 2005, c. 27).

The present Act lays down provisions relating to the ratification of the Labrador Iniut Land Claims Agreement. In particular, section 5 establishes that the Agreement is approved, given effect and declared valid and has the force of law. The text consists of 15 sections.
