The present Order is made under the Territorial Lands Act. The purpose of this Order is to withdraw from disposal certain tracts of territorial lands in order to facilitate the conclusion of Aboriginal land agreements. Section 2 establishes that the tracts of territorial lands set out in Schedule 1, including the surface rights to the lands, and the tracts of territorial lands set out in Schedule 2, including the surface and subsurface rights to the lands, are withdrawn from disposal for a period of two years beginning on the day on which this Order is made.
Withdrawal from Disposal, Setting Apart and Appropriation of Certain Tracts of Territorial Lands in the Northwest Territories (Reindeer Grazing Reserve) Order (S.I./2014-38).
The present Order is made under the Territorial Lands Act. The purpose of the Order is to withdraw from disposal certain tracts of territorial lands for reindeer grazing purposes and to set apart and appropriate those tracts for use as a reindeer grazing reserve in the Northwest Territories. The purpose of this Order is to withdraw from disposal certain tracts of territorial lands in order to facilitate the resolution of Aboriginal land and resource agreements. Westbank First Nation Self-Government Act (S.C. 2004, c. 17).
The present Act validates the Westbank First Nation Self-Government Agreement between Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada and Westbank First Nation of 3 October 2003. In particular, section 3 establishes that the Agreement is approved and has the force of law. The text – consisting of 22 sections – deals with the following aspects: effect of Agreement, interpretation, application of other Acts, legal proceedings, general provisions.
Westbank First Nation Land Registry Regulations (SOR/2007-232).
The present Regulations are made under the Westbank First Nation Self-Government Act. In particular, the Regulations set up the Westbank First Nation Land Registry which is a sub registry under the Self-Governing First Nations Land Registry held in Ottawa. It is a public registry that is password protected and can be accessed at no charge through the Helpdesk on the systems login page. Section 2 establishes that the Register shall be maintained in an office located in the National Capital Region and known as the Westbank First Nation Land Registry. The text consists of 34 sections.
