Land and land reform cover a great range, both in terms of the geographical and development status of the countries considered, and of the variety of perspectives on the issues. The articles in this issue of Land Reform, Land Resettlement and Cooperatives reflect this breadth in a variety of ways. The articles range geographically from the paper addressing land and agrarian reform in Colombia, by Professor Darío Fajardo, to a consideration of the land reforms currently under way in Scotland, by Douglas Macmillan, Ken Thomson and Bill Slee.

This reports examines the opportunities for new sources of funding to support the Ministry of Water and Forests in Morocco. The report examines the current flows of funds between the forestry sector, local communities and the ministry and shows how the ministry does not receive sufficient revenue to implement its forestry policies and programmes. It also demonstrates how some of the fiscal policies currently in place do little to support sustainable forest management.

La Evaluacin de los recursos forestales mundiales 2000 (ERF 2000) ha concluido, pero ya han empezado los trabajos para la prxima evaluacin mundial. La consulta de expertos sobre Evaluaciones de recursos forestales mundiales - Conjuncin de esfuerzos nacionales e internacionales, conocida como Kotka IV, reuni a expertos internacionales en julio de 2002 para considerar ideas y estrategias para el futuro. A case study

These guidelines are the result a consultative process that involved a large number of practitioners from both developed and developing countries. Two meetings were held in Glasgow and Delhi and a tentative outline was agreed upon. The guidelines are intended to provide a reference framework for decision makers and planners to adequately plan, design and manage the forest and trees in and around their cities.

This issue of Unasylva focuses on the challenges facing mountain development into the twenty-first century.
