An Act of Parliament to make provision in relation to surveys and geographical names and the licensing of land surveyors, and for connected purposes.

This Act makes provision for the public control and organization of the survey of land and for other related matters. The Act consists of 46 sections divided into 10 Parts.As for administration, there shall be a Director of Surveys and such other officers as may be deemed to be necessary for the purposes of this Act. Also a Land Surveyors' Board is established. The Board shall principally appoint and control licensed surveyors. Surveyors, in order to become a licensed surveyor, shall submit to examination and be registered by the Board. The Board shall have certain disciplinary powers in respect of licensed surveyors. The Act further lays down rules for the carrying out of surveys and establishes a Standing Committee on Geographical Names. All survey plans and records are to be deposited with Director of Surveys and shall become property of Government. No land shall be deemed to have been surveyed or resurveyed until the plan thereof has been authenticated by the signature of the Director or of a Government surveyor.
