The present Ordinance regulates the implementation of the Federal Agricultural Lease Act of 4 October 1985.
The purpose of the present Ordinance is to regulate the cultivation and management of alpine regions and the related existing rights of lease and preemption thereof. The kind and extension of the cultivation and management shall be carried out according to ecological principles.

The present Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the conversion of lease into property in agricultural enterprises. Article 1 establishes the necessary conditions for such a conversion and in particular that the lease will have lasted for not less than six years.
