El objetivo del presente trabajo es abonar a la reflexión de la articulación entre la gestión de riesgo dedesastres y la equidad de género. Se presenta un estudio de caso en cuatro localidades del estado de Yucatán,México, sobre percepciones respecto al cambio climático y capacidades institucionales sobre gestión deriesgos.

El propósito de este artículo es explorar algunas consideraciones basadas en el criterio de la eficiencia económica pura; necesarias para diseñar una política pública eficiente para la de asignación de activos ambientales de interés público. Se presenta una versión del modelo de Fisher y Krutilla para estudiar el problema de asignación óptima de recursos naturales bajo conflictos del uso entre conservación y desarrollo. El modelo se aplica a un estudio de caso para determinar el mayor y mejor uso de un ambiente natural urbano en Bogotá; Colombia.

La experiencia de los Paises Bajos en el manejo del territorio y de las aguas es extensa. Sus habitantes poseen conocimiento acabado de sus características, interactuando dinámicamente con su hábitat. Las necesidades medioambientales y económicas, sin embargo, han obligado a replantarse e incluso revertir este complejo sistema hidráulico.

Tradicionalmente en la Argentina, la ecología forestal y la silvicultura han marchado en general por caminos separados. La información ecológica apropiada puede ser aprovechada para un mejor manejo del bosque. La especie nativa Nothofagus pumilio (n.v. lenga) y los bosques que forma en la Tierra del Fuego poseen características biológicas y ecológicas favorables y desfavorables para la producción de madera que pueden diferir si son otros los objetivos del manejo.

In the face of trends towards a widening “food gap” and general poverty, this paper attempts to address the problem by discussing the methodologies necessary for sustainable land management to ensure improved food security, rapid economic development and poverty reduction in developing countries of Africa. The authors explain that the population of the world has been increasing at an exponential rate over the past few decades. Present projections suggest that it will be 11 billion by the year 2100.

This short field work report gives an overview of the forest inventory work done during the first two years of The Future Okavango (TFO) project, a project implemented till 2015 and funded by the

German Ministry of Education and Research. TFO aims to integrate ecosystem functions and services into an ecological and economic approach to sustainable land management at a regional scale.

In the context of Knowledge for Climate programme, an expert pool was requested from Theme 6 (high quality climate projections) to provide data and information to study the future impacts of climate change on the agricultural land-use patterns in the Netherlands. More specifically, a number of questions were posed in regard to: 1) representing and explaining the spatial distribution of different types of farming; and 2) simulating with Land Use Scanner the future developments of agricultural land-use while taking into account effects of climate change and changes in (agricultural) policy.

For centuries the Dutch coastal waters and the North Sea were primarily used for fisheries and shipping, but during the last 20 years the number of uses has increased rapidly. These human uses (such as wind farms, mineral extraction, coastal defences and fisheries) will lead to a decrease in biodiversity and a reduction in ecosystem and mineral resources. Under several European policies and conventions, the EU North Sea member states must establish a sustainable management regime for the marine environment.

This report describes the results of field work in the Princess Amalia Wind Farm (in Dutch: Prinses Amaliawindpark, or PAWP). It is to realize the requirements of the Monitoring and Evaluation Program, which is part of the Wbr-permit of the wind farm. The objective is to determine if the wind farm functions as a refugium for roundfish. PAWP is expected to act as a refugium because fisheries are excluded in the farm area since 16 October 2007.
