This Act addresses issues related to the tiles to land and land use in Northwest Territories. It consists of 195 sections and is divided into the following Parts: Administration, Procedures, Registration, Instruments and caveats, Fees and assurance fund, Remedial proceedings, Proceedings before a judge, and General. It contains provisions on registration districts, land officers, certificates of titles, trusts, land transfers, plans, leases, mortgages and on related fees.

The present Law establishes the basis of the organization of land market and regulation of economic and legal relations concerning land market. The document consists of V Secs. that contain 23 Arts. Section I (arts. 1-5) lays down general provisions. Section II (Arts. 6-8) regards organization of land market. Section III (Arts. 9-17) regards regulation of land market. Section IV (Arts. 18-20) regards registration of the rights on land. Section V (Arts. 21-23) establishes liability for the infringement of the legislation on land market and regulates the issues of dispute settlement.

This Act provides for the formation and registration of agricultural land owners associations and defines their functions and powers. It empowers the Minister to establish and maintain a registry of agricultural land and to regulate the management of registered agricultural lands. When necessary, drains and ditches may be constructed and have to be maintained. (25 sections)
