The aid granted under these Regulations aims at the management of land of broadleaved woodland compatible with the requirements of the protection of the environment the beneficiaries of aid shall conclude an agreement with the Secretary of State in which management requirements laid down in the Schedule to these Regulations are included.

There is established a National Contaminated Sediment Task Force. The task force shall review reports on aquatic sediment quality and make recommendations to prevent aquatic sediment contamination and to control sources of such contamination (sect. 502). The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency shall conduct a comprehensive national survey of data regarding aquatic sediment quality in the United States (sect. 503). Parts of the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972 are amended.

Based on the assessment of the present environmental degradation caused by the inadequacy of the purification systems, and of the data collected through an official census on the water pollution of the country, the special plan aims at the achievement of the following objectives: (a) identification and implementation of urgent interventions necessary for the protection and sanitation of waters and catchment basins; (b) completion of works already financed; (c) putting into operation of completed works. The Decree establishes criteria and modalities for the elaboration of the plan.

Environmentally Sensitive Areas (Somerset Levels and Moors) Designation Order 1997 (S.I. No. 1442 of 1997).

This Order is made under section 18 of the Agriculture Act 1986 which gives the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the power to designate an area of England as an environmentally sensitive area. In such area particular agricultural methods shall be adopted so as to conserve, protect or enhance environmental features in that area. For this purpose the Minister may enter into a management agreement with any person having an interest in agricultural land in any designated area.

The amendments of the present Act concern land survey procedures in accordance with the recently enacted Real Property Formation Act (554/95) for various kinds of water areas to which provisions of the Fisheries Act apply. Borders of fish protection areas shall be established by a certified engineer at the request of Fisheries Area Offices (sect. 45). Section 55 provides for the designation by the Land Survey Office of the part in a water area of members in Fisheries Associations in accordance with section 101 of Act 554 of 1995.

The Act provides for the establishment of the Natural Resources Board, whose functions shall: (a) except in respect of Swazi areas to exercise supervision over natural resources; (b) to promote the conservation and improvement of natural resources; (c) to advice the Minister of Agriculture on the proper conservation, use and improvement of natural resources. The Minister may, on the recommendation of the board, set aside Government land or acquire land in areas other than the Swazi areas, for the conservation or improvement of natural resources.

A Decree of the Department of the Environment to protect the environment from pollution from tanks for the storage of oil which are lying underground. The provisions of the Decree deal, inter alia, with: quality of tanks (sect. 4); control of tanks in general (sect. 5); periodical controls (sect. 6); automatic leakage control of tanks with double walls (sect. 7); notification of tanks to municipalities (sect. 9); supervisions and registration (sect. 10).

This Decree of the Ministry of Environment implements in Norway EC Council Directive 83/189 laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical standards and regulations, as amended. The scope is to prevent damage caused by accidental or intentional release of micro organisms to public health or the environment. It does not apply to micro organisms covered by other Acts including the Plant Protection Substances Act, the fertilizer Act, the Food Act, and the Genetically Modified Organisms Act.
