This Law lays down the rules and procedures for examining the validity of agricultural land ownership titles and defines the responsible State authorities as well as their tasks and responsibilities. The following are considered to be valid titles: (1) lands registered as agricultural land in the cadastral registers until 1.8.1991 and included in the territories administered by former agricultural cooperatives until the entry into force of Law No. 7501 of 1991 on land; (2) other agricultural lands administered by former agricultural enterprises and other State institutions whose distribution has been approved by the Minister of Agricultural until the adoption of Law No. 8337 on giving ownership in agricultural lands, forests, pastures and meadows; and (3) agricultural lands under the authority of ex agricultural enterprises according to Law No. 8053 on granting ownership without recompense for agricultural land. The responsible entities are the Governmental Land Commission and the Local Committee for Examining the Titles’ Validity.
