Este encuentro surge como una de las actividades previstas en el proyecto “Enfrentando la Pobreza Urbana a través de la Agricultura, Caso Cono Este de Lima, Perú” y fue co-organizado por el Programa Cosecha Urbana (Iniciativa Global del CGIAR para la Agricultura Urbana y Periurbana), el Programa de Gestión Urbana de la ONU para América Latina y el Caribe, la Red Latinoamericana de Investigaciones en Agricultura Urbana (AGUILA) y la Municipalidad de Lurigancho-Chosica.

In response to the 2008 food crisis, Senegal developed an ambitious food self-sufficiency programme which aims to entirely cover national rice consumption needs with local rice by 2015, mainly through massive investments in existing and new rice perimeters in the Senegal River Valley (SRV). It has yet to be seen, however, how the projected rice production boom will reach urban markets, where the product is often unknown or misconstrued.

This Decree establishes the modalities of cadastre valuation of agricultural land and updating its data related to plots of agricultural land allotted for urban and peri-urban agriculture to horticulture and gardening cooperatives, and also the land or urban areas. Cadastre valuation of agricultural land shall be conducted on 1 July of the year of performance of cadastre valuation. Cadastre valuation of the aforesaid land categories shall be performed by initiative of State Property Committee at least once in 4 years.

Article 1 shall be amended to add the following wording: “This Regional Law establishes maximum and minimum land areas of land plots destined for consolidation and allotment in ownership to citizens for gardening, horticulture, urban and peri-urban agriculture and stockbreeding out of stock of public and municipal land that has no land-use planning documentation for construction purposes by the date of 1 March 2015”.

Amends: Regional Law No. 63-OZ on maximum size of the plots of land conceded to citizens in ownership. (2003-12-10)

Given the monumental challenges facing today's world - widespread poverty, urban blight, illiteracy, tropical deforestation and the threat of nuclear war, to name only a few - it may seem quite irrelevant to devote an issue of Unasylva to the rather tame-sounding subject of urban forestry. To millions of homeless or starving or unemployed people in the urban centres of the developing world, how important can urban forestry really be? In truth, urban forestry, as sometimes practiced, does tend to benefit the well-to-do at the expense of the underprivileged.

Towns and cities are growing rapidly in developing countries. This process is often accompanied by high levels of poverty and hunger, leading many urban dwellers to engage in farming activities to help satisfy their food needs. Policy makers need to recognize this reality and actively seize the opportunities offered by urban agriculture.

En esta publicación se hace un resumen de cómo el Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional valoró muy bien la iniciativa de agricultura urbana y periurbana y el 14 de mayo del 2012 retoma la idea del proyecto, lo renombra y lo lanza como programa público denominado “Programa Solidario Patio Saludable”. Aquí se dan a conocer las metas del programa y algunos aspectos de importancia de dicha política.

La sécurité alimentaire des consommateurs urbains les moins aisés des pays en développement et en transition (PDT) peut être garantie par des systèmes d'approvisionnement et de distribution alimentaires (SADA) plus dynamiques et performants, ce qui permettrait non seulement d'améliorer la disponibilité alimentaire en termes de prix, volume, variété et qualité, mais également de développer la production alimentaire nationale pour faire face aux besoins alimentaires croissants des villes.

Los pueblos y ciudades crecen con rapidez en los países en desarrollo. Este proceso va acompañado a menudo de niveles elevados de hambre y pobreza, lo que conduce a muchos residentes urbanos a ocuparse en actividades agrícolas para ayudar a cubrir sus necesidades alimentarias. Los responsables de las políticas deben admitir esta realidad y aprovechar de forma activa las oportunidades que ofrece la agricultura urbana.

More than 50 senior representatives from 12 countries representing various sectors - health, agriculture (horticulture/livestock), fisheries, agricultural marketing, agricultural policy planning, urban development, NGOs, academia and industry - attended the regional workshop on strengthening urban and peri-urban agriculture towards resilient food systems in Asia.

Esta publicación permite orientar a los técnicos del PESA y a los que trabajan en instituciones relacionadas con Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional sobre aspectos conceptuales relativos al género y la SAN, e impulsar de manera decidida acciones específicas que permitan que los pro- gramas dirigidos a la lucha contra el hambre reconozcan el papel clave de las mujeres y niñas, y prioricen la equidad de género.
