This Act concerns the expropriation of land for any purpose relative to the use, construction, maintenance or repair of public works. The Act also regulates access to land for the purpose of constructing or maintaining public works (sect. 3). The Act defines the procedure for expropriation and related registration requirements (sect. 7). Under section 11, compensation is foreseen for any damages resulting from the exercise of the powers conferred by the Act. Under section 30, any lands acquired under the Act may be granted, sold, leased or otherwise disposed of by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. Other provisions cover legal and administrative procedures and dispute settlement.
