Ecosystem accounting is a new area of environmental economic accounting that aims to measure ecosystem services in a way that is in line with national accounts. The key characteristics of ecosystem accounting include the extension of the valuation boundary of the System of National Accounts, allowing the inclusion of a broader set of ecosystem services types such regulating services and cultural services. Consistent with the principles of national account, ecosystem accounting focuses on assessment of the contribution of ecosystem in generating benefits for human well-being.

Bij veel onderzoeksvragen bij het Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving en Wageningen UR spelen ontbossing en bosbouw een belangrijke rol. Om de effecten te analyseren voor grondgebruik van het beleid voor biobrandstoffen, landbouw of handel wordt vaak het algemene evenwichtsmodel MAGNET van LEI Wageningen UR gebruikt. Een van de sterke kanten van dit model van de wereldeconomie is de aandacht voor grondaanbod. Recent is een nieuwe benadering voor de dynamiek van de grondmarkt en de rol van bosbouw ontwikkeld.

This report aims to give a complete and transparent overview and motivation of all steps involved in the construction of the land use and land use change matrix used for the UNFCCC submission 2009 for LULUCF and onwards. For the 2009 submission to the UNFCCC the land use change matrix was updated and based on an improved wall-to-wall approach derived from topographical maps. Updates in methodology and data sets were included in order to present the best estimate of land use and land use change in The Netherlands that is currently possible.

In de provincie Limburg is er steeds meer discussie tussen overheden, de landbouwsector en maatschappelijke organisaties over de inrichting van het landelijk gebied in relatie tot de landbouwproductieruimte en andere maatschappelijke gewenste opgaven (groene, blauwe, maar ook rode opgaven). De provincie Limburg wilde graag door uitvoering van een strategisch onderzoek inzicht en ondersteuning in de vraag welke maatregelen en instrumenten ontbreken c.q.

Een van de knelpunten in de biologische landbouw is de continuïteit van de gronden die nu in gebruik zijn. De biologische ondernemers zitten verspreid over het gehele land. Dit betekent een versnippering van areaal. Dit onderzoek tracht inzicht te krijgen op de kansen van alternatieve en duurzame grondconstructies voor de biologische landbouw. Hiertoe is het gesprek aangegaan met landelijke en lokale (pilot gebied Bio Valley Harenkarspel) partijen met grondposities.

There are millions of hectares of land in the Ukraine which either have been abandoned, or are farmed with a low land productivity due to severe land degradation. The Netherlands Embassy has requested a study to assess the opportunities and benefits of restoration of degraded steppe areas. The goal of this project is the restoration of degraded land and to develop more sustainable land use with a higher biodiversity. Innovative farming systems are proposed which are both economically and environmentally sustainable agricultural production systems.

National and regional datasets on landscape features can be used to analyse the stock and change of farmland features. However, these landscape datasets are not categorised according to farmland features, farmed features or unfarmed features. The available national level datasets are used to obtain information on the extent and distribution of farmland features within the major Member States of the European Union. Data on farmland features is extracted from nationally-focused projects and datasets.

Een veelvoorkomend probleem in de landdynamiek is dat na verloop van tijd kennis vordert, technologie ontwikkelt en beleidsdoelstellingen veranderen. Dit betekent dat met elke kartering die wordt uitgevoerd, met een voor dat doel specifiek ontworpen classificatie, een nieuwe basis dataset wordt gemaakt in plaats van een continue gegevensreeks.
