The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information. We help developing countries and countries in transition modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices and ensure good nutrition for all. Since our founding in 1945, we have focused special attention on developing rural areas, home to 70 percent of the world's poor and hungry people.

Water management by smallholders, including all forms of informal irrigation, private, water farming, fishing, etc, has a significant potential for development which is still largely untapped. This project funded by IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) and implemented by FAO and IWMI is an opportunity to understand the conditions of success for the development of all forms of small-scale agricultural water management and to improve the efficiency and performance of the development projects.
Interactions in Agroecology: Virtuous Cycles and Ecosystem Services that Underpin Agricultural Production
This poster describes various innovative sustainable practices used in agroecology. It provides brief information on pollination, natural pest control, crop-livestock integration, soil biodiversity, water management, forest management, nitrogen fixing and other ecological, economic and social principles and techniques of agroecology.

Rapport de la septième session du Groupe scientifique consultatif, Panama, Panama, 7-8 novembre 2015
The seventh session of the Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC) was held in Panama City, Panama on 7-8 November 2015. The Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute (GCFI) hosted the session at the venue of its sixty-eight annual conference. The SAG discussed the outcomes of the work carried out by various joint working groups in 2014–2015 and their recommendations to WECAFC 16, the fisheries resource status in the Wider Caribbean Region, and activities to be undertaken by WECAFC in 2016–2017.
