Moreover, the Code provides consistent requirements across the province and protects the quality of soil as well as the surface and groundwater on sites where the by-products are applied.
The present Act is a piece of companion legislation to the Federal Sechelt Indian Band Self-Government Act and provides for provincial recognition of the Sechelt Indian Government District. The ministry is responsible for section 4, which makes the district eligible for municipal benefits.

This Act provides for any 5 or more persons to form an association under this Act to carry on any lawful industry, trade or business on a cooperative basis. An association formed under this Act must include in its name the word " cooperative".
