The constitution was signed by the governments of Brunei and the UK.
A Constituent Assembly drafted the constitution before it was approved by voters in a referendum. It came into force when published in The Monitor.
A Constituent National Assembly drafted and promulgated the constitution.

A Constitutional Commission drafted the constitution and its ratification was proclaimed by the President following a public referendum.
The constitution was drafted by the National Assembly which approved it following a plebiscite. It was then ratified by the President.
