Madagascar

Madagascar est la quatrième plus grande île du monde (587 295 km2) située dans l'océan Indien, à quelque 400 km des côtes du Mozambique. La République de Madagascar comprend l'île principale et un certain nombre de petites îles et est divisée en six provinces et 22 régions administratives. En 2019, elle comptait environ 25,68 millions d'habitants avec une faible densité de population de 42,8 habitants par km2. 80,5 % de la population vit dans les zones rurales, tandis que 19,5 % (5 millions de personnes) vivent dans les villes, dont 2,58 millions de personnes dans les grands centres urbains et 2,42 millions dans les centres urbains secondaires.
