This Act makes amendments to the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 and the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 so as to provide for the protection of ancient monuments and historic buildings in Wales. It also provides for the establishment, constitution and functions of the Advisory Panel for the Welsh Historic Environment. The Welsh Ministers may enter into an agreement under this section (a “heritage partnership agreement”) with the owner of— (a) a scheduled monument situated in Wales; or (b) any land adjoining or in the vicinity of such a scheduled monument (“associated land”). Monuments may also be found in territorial waters.
